Braeburn 7500 universal wireless thermostat kit
Today, I’m reviewing the Braeburn 7500 thermostat. We all know that technology is advancing really quickly, and thermostats are no exception to this. The Braeburn 7500 is a great wireless (not Wi-Fi, rather it does not need wiring in your wall to control your heat and air conditioning) programmable thermostat that has a bunch of cool features that make it stand out from other thermostats.
The 7500 is well designed, easy to use, and smart enough to help control your home’s heating and cooling systems. In this review, I’m going to go over the Braeburn 7500’s features, my experience with it, and how easy it is to use. I have 2 of them and they are great thermostats. So I am going to share with you some of the features and why you might want to select this thermostat to control your indoor comfort.
The wall mount unit has a nice layout and easy to read backlight display
How does the Braeburn 7500 compare to other thermostats
My thoughts and experience with the Braeburn 7500
I actually have 2 Braeburn 7500 thermostats, I chose these thermostats to solve a heating and air conditioning problem I had, that required thermostats in locations that were almost impossible to run wires to. This allowed me to add extra heat zones and better balance the temperature in my house. Having the ability to mount the thermostat wherever I wanted and have the thermostat control module mounted right at my HVAC equipment solved this problem.
I tried several wireless thermostats, some were hard to program, some were hard to connect from the thermostat to the control module, and some were just hard to install or hard to change batteries in.
I also had a couple of wireless thermostats that did not maintain a good wireless connection and would drop the signal from the control module and have to be reset or re-connected. The Braeburn never had this problem, and even automatically reconnects when there is a power failure or if the HVAC system has been turned off and back on.
If you’re looking for a wireless thermostat that’s simple to use and doesn’t require complicated wiring, I highly recommend the Braeburn 7500. Even though it doesn’t have Wi-Fi connectivity or an app, it’s still a good-looking thermostat and has an easy-to-use interface making it a great choice for homeowners or businesses who want more control over their heating and cooling systems. I looked at and tried several wireless thermostats, but the Braeburn 7500 really solved all my problems and I have had over 5 years of good service from this thermostat.
Installation thoughts and tips:
While this thermostat is wireless the control unit or receiver unit still needs to be connected to your HVAC equipment. This is pretty straight forward and it can be connected right at the unit. It connects via the standard thermostat connections and can be mounted to the side of your heater or air conditioner, alternatively, it can be mounted to a wall or stud nearby. As always if you are not comfortable working with wires or making the connections in your heater or air conditioner please hire a professional.
When installing I found it helpful to install the control unit first and then do the pairing with the thermostat right at the control unit, this way you can see the indicator lights and know that it has connected successfully. You can then take the thermostat to where you want to mount it and make sure it still has a connection before drilling holes in your wall. The thermostat will tell you right on the screen if it has lost connection to the control unit.
The control unit will need a C or common wire to power it, most HVAC systems have this wire connection but if yours doesn’t there are several solutions for this problem, I have a complete guide to the C wire that explains all the options, you can read that article here: What is a thermostat c wire or common wire?
The Braeburn 7500 can save you money on your energy bills
On top of the wireless installation, the Braeburn 7500 universal wireless thermostat is a programmable thermostat that can help to reduce your energy bills and save you money. The Braeburn 7500 allows you to customize your heating and cooling schedule and set different temperature control programs for weekdays and weekends.
The Braeburn 7500 comes with a keypad lockout feature, which prevents unauthorized users from tampering with the settings or changing your schedule. This works great for both homes where you don’t want someone else in your home changing settings and in commercial environments where you may not want unauthorized persons changing the temperature control settings.
Whether you want to raise the temperature during the day when no one is home or lower it for evenings and weekends, the Braeburn 7500 has you covered. So if you’re looking for an easy way to reduce your energy costs and their associated environmental impacts, the Braeburn 7500 is a solid choice.
The Braeburn 7500 is one the best wireless thermostats available
The Braeburn 7500 is widely considered to be the best wireless thermostat available and I’m not just saying that because I have a couple of these units in my home, I have over 5 years of experience with this thermostat and it has been a solid reliable unit. It is easy to install and has a wide range of great features making it an ideal choice for homeowners and businesses alike.
Its universal design allows it to work with most makes or models of HVAC systems including heat pump systems, hot air systems, and Hydronic systems and systems with 2 stages. (this model is not compatible with line voltage systems), so users can enjoy optimal comfort without worrying about compatibility issues.
There are several add on sensors available, there is an outdoor sensor that will display the outdoor temperature on the screen, and this sensor can also be used as a balance point for heat pump systems. There is also a humidity sensor to allow the thermostat to control a humidifier or de-humidifier that may be part of your system. They also offer a remote indoor temperature sensor, and a C wire adapter if your system does not have a C wire connection (If you would like to learn more about a C wire connection please read my comprehensive article on it here: What is a thermostat c wire or common wire?).
This kit includes everything you need including a return air sensor to maintain a minimum temperature if the connection is lost between the thermostat and the control module. Keep in mind this thermostat is battery operated and even though it has a large backlit display the battery life has been great, I am getting more than a year on the batteries.
Whether you need to combat extreme temperatures, maintain a set schedule, or solve another kind of heating or cooling problem, like installing an additional thermostat in a location that would be hard to run wires to, the Braeburn 7500 has you covered. So if you’re looking for a reliable and effective way to optimize your home comfort and reduce energy costs, look no further than this top-of-the-line thermostat. With the Braeburn 7500, you can rest assured that your climate and temperature control needs will always be met.
